In regards to its olfactory format, FIERCE Intense is promoted as a "concentrated cologne" and being "our strongest, longest lasting fragrance" - a higher concentration of the FIERCE scent in cologne form. This is peculiar, however, given the fact that when a scent is in its purest, concentrated, longest-lasting form, it's a parfum. Contrary to prevailing layman understanding, a parfum and eau de parfum (right underneath parfum in concentration hierarchy) are not solely for feminine scents; they are merely types of a fragrance concentration. Being as they are, masculinity and femininity constructs polarizing everything, people have in recent times conformed with the idea that parfum / eau de parfum / "perfume" is for them (women) and "cologne" is solely for a man. No. Perfume is all scents, masculine or feminine, created for giving a desired odor to your body, whatever, and "fragrance" is used interchangeably. Recent time has just attached an incorrect and misleading feminine connotation to the term "perfume" in English. Who knows why, and it's really dim-witted and funny that it is so in English considering the fact that while the word can trace its origins to the Latin per fumus ("through smoke"), because of Anglo-French cultural relations (including linguistic and French holding prestige in English since the Norman conquest), it could have come into English by way of French considering France had become the center of the development and refinement of perfumery practice after it made its way into Europe by the middle of the 2nd millennium. That and the fact that French culture and language would become an ideal of all aspects civilization by the latter-centuries of the millennium. The feminine scents-driven bloom of the industry by the modern era and marketing surely contributed to the thought of "perfume" as feminine as a generic term for eau de parfum of which women's fragrances were basically made in standard; the French term parfum is masculine, people, and by definition is of all created scents for desirable use. (Note that le parfum is French for perfume/fragrance and parfum is also the French for the purest fragrance form; it just depends on the context in which you use the term). Certain masculine fragrances can be worked as eau de parfums and have in the higher strata of the industry (i.e. Dior HommeTom Ford NoirTerre d'Hermes, etc.) and are more complex, bold, and price reflective; cologne is just for playing it safe and easy. Nevertheless, one must also consider the fact that many male fragrances take to a main prominence of citrus family notes within the formula, and that is also what defines an eau de cologne with a use of such in an overall formula of low concentration generally anywhere 2-5% of essential oils. However, cologne may linger rather lengthily, despite the low concentration, depending on the notes and also the climate. But here's the curveball: Colognes can be in light or more form. Also, regardless of the concentration for a masculine scent, sellers are well known to just slap it with a "cologne" label out of conformity even when venturing into eau de toilette territory (4-8%, give or take, and in between eau de cologne and eau de parfum) or higher.

Priced at US$118 for the only exclusive volume offering, 1.7 fl oz, FIERCE Intense was "sold out" rather fast after its release in the American market though, by the publishing of this post, it is still available in the United Kingdom, for example, with a price of GB£118 (rounding to US$190) – a strongly commanding premium price of parfum territory. The only parfum Abercrombie & Fitch has ever sold is the upscale, feminine EZRA scent at 0.5. fl oz for US$108. But even then, FIERCE Intense can't hardly dethrone EZRA parfum which, were it sold at 1.7 fl oz, would have been at a price much higher than anything around the world A&F asks for FIERCE Intense. Furthermore, if FIERCE Intense can be sold at 1.7 fl oz with an above-though-so-near price to what EZRA parfum sold for at 0.5. fl oz, then it is seemingly not the truly purest, strongest, long-lasting A&F Fragrance ever in the technical sense of what a parfum is and what is EZRA parfum. However, "our strongest, longest lasting fragrance" can hold validation within the context of considering the current lineup of available scents. Furthermore, a limited-edition higher concentration of FIERCE cologne – a very valuable, valuable and internationally renowned scent – at 1.7 fl oz would indeed command a most fittingly...intense price.

FIERCE Intense is only the latest installment in the impressive expansion of the acclaimed FIERCE fragrance label: the first move came in Christmas 2010 with release of the body care duo FIERCE hair & body wash and aftershave; cologne volume was expanded to 3.4 and 6.7 fl oz by 2011 and releasing a limited edition 1000ml by Christmas 2012; and 2014 has experienced the most expansion undertaking with a candle, spin-off scent FIERCE Confidence, and now the classic scent concentrate form. The all-new addition's exclusive standing in composition and limited-edition release furthers premium attitude.

And with the holiday season just around the corner now, who needs mistletoe when you've got FIERCE...

         SINCE ITS RELEASE, the Crescent Bay scent has become the most popular for gorgeous Bettys in the Hollister Co. bodycare lineup. So adored it has been that, unlike all others in the collection, it has even come to have its own perfume in form of the Crescent Bay eau de toilette (EDT) and rollerball. Currently, apart from those, there is furthermore the body mist, lotion, cream, and wash. (Shimmer mist and lip gloss are no longer available online). News Now! | FIERCE Confidence, Abercrombie Cologne...

Hey readers! One of our blog correspondents, Peter, went to an A&F store and noticed (and subsequently bought) the all-new cologne out. It's called FIERCE Confidence, and it is not currently for sale online abercrombie.com as it's seemingly an instore exclusive product. It seems to be in a similar vein to Hollister's SoCal So Chill cologne in that it is a spin on the store's signature scent...









It's priced at US$54 and comes in 1.7 fl oz. bottles. Peter also noted that the cologne has citric notes of scent as as variation of the original FIERCE, of course. Also, A&F veteran fans will notice that FIERCE Confidence references back to the original packaging for FIERCE.

Guest Voices! | Abercrombie & Fitch Fall 2013 Sales Bargins...

Well as much as I don't like the racks of clearance items or promotions (see my previous post), the cynic in me can't help but to bag a bargain at Abercrombie & Fitch...especially with the ridiculous amount of promos on. However, if you are expecting more controversy in this piece, the only thing you will find is the crazy low prices I paid in comparison to the full prices back here in the good old UK. So without further ado, I want to share with you some of the items that were too good to pass up and made their way into my suitcase for my return home! (I've also made notes of some bargains for the ladies, too!)...

Now my price conversion guide is as follows: original GB£ price in UK market compared alongside original US$ price in America; then clearance price of that item in US dollars, and then finally that clearance purchase price converted to UK pounds at a rate of US$1.56 (which was the rate at the time I used to covert my pounds to dollars). State tax has not been included.

All men like to smell good, (me too ha-ha!) so what better than a bargain cologne! A&F Crest will do nicely: GB£46; US$44, but at sale price of US$25 at £16!! A saving of £30 per bottle! Right, I'll have four of those then!

New tees? OK, let's have three different Newcomb Lake crew tees. UK£30; US$24.99, but at clearance for $12.49 at £8!! Yep you read that correctly!!

Cool denim shirts anyone? GB£78; US$78, but at sale price of $39 at £25! That's £53 I can spend on something else!

Pants, good for casualwear and workwear: UK£78; US$50, but on clearance for $25 at £16! Really? And we are talking olive not some of the crazy bright colours.

And as a final example for the men, you can't beat a nice comfy pair of sweatpants for loafing around the house: UK£68; US$68, but on clearance for $39 at £25!

What about ladies apparel I hear you cry? Long sleeve ladies' tees, as one example: UK£38; US$38, but on clearance for $9 at £6!

Another one for the ladies, a pink plaid shirt: UK£58, US$58, (this item had been red lined four times!) on clearance for $14.99 at £10!!















This is just a selection of my bargains in the crazy land of promotions that is Abercrombie & Fitch in the United States. One final thought: I wonder what the sales value is from other visitors to the US spending in A&F at the present time? Because no doubt this will be propping up domestic sales figures. Without these additional sales, the wheels would well and truly be coming off the A&F wagon...let's just hope one of them hits that damn fox (then what will it say)!!!

Enamored exuberance reigned upon the grounds of the exquisite Musée Rodin in Paris wherein a former Abercrombie & Fitch model found herself in daydream: "I loved it. It's very beautiful, very feminine. I loved all the suits – a bit like men's suits – but with flowers, very feminine. All the different volumes, it's great." (Quote, French-English translation). It is so as how expressed French-American model, Camille Rowe, of the juxtaposed experimental genius of creative director Raf Simon's Spring-Summer 2014 ready-to-wear collection for Dior. An exclusive guest to the celebrity-studded September 28 event amid Paris Fashion Week, our girl Camille finds herself now at a highlight of her career as a newcomer Dior belle.

Born "Camille Rowe-Pourcheresse" in Paris in 1990 to an American mother and French father, Camille was first spotted by a talent scout at a Parisian cafe in 2009. Soon enough, she found herself posing for the lens of our famed Bruce Weber in photographic and film work for Abercrombie & Fitch... Camille took part as the leading female model of the grand and unforgettable "A&F Screen Test" Back-to-School 2010 campaign. Her unique beauty and spirited attitude marked a commanding presence in the campaign's exceptional photography, mini series of films, and classically glorious A&F Quarterly "Screen Test" 2010 edition...nudity included! In subsequent development of her first major iconic work, Camille came to make impressive strides in her career. Among some notables: the face of Eau de Chloé for the French fashion house, Chloé; an appearance for a Louis Vuitton campaign; heading the Fall-Winter 2012 campaign for French label Zadig & Voltaire; and starring in small role in the French film, Our Day Will Come.

As of now, Camille is amusingly a global envy as the love interest of Robert Pattinson in the recently released Dior Homme fragrance campaign. The media has since been in frenzy over the seemingly inherent coming-together chemistry between Camille and Rob. Candidly, Rob professed to GQ Spain that "[if] you have to kiss someone who you don’t know and the person keeps their distance or backs off, it’s horrible," but that that was not the case with Camille because "[if] she was [intimidated], she certainly didn’t show it to me!" ...Our girl is fearless #FIERCE!

How are y'all? First, I want to talk about the positives of the current collection at Hollister. I love some of the pieces in this Back-to-School lineups, such as the Scripps Pier Shirt and the Solana Beach Shirt. I also really like the North Jetty Hoodie. I've chosen a few of my favourite items and outlined them below:

Abercrombie & Fitch has launched a new men's cologne: #ABERCROMBIEHOT!


The description of the scent reads:
The light scent of fresh cucumber and coconut water is cool and invigorating. Subtle notes of amber and musk round it out with a masculine finish.

As you can see, the cologne bottle has no male torso on it for once. The cologne name itself, #AbercrombieHot, is named after the hashtag that A&F has been attempting to get trending on social networking sites like Twitter and Instagram since the onset of Spring-Summer 2013. #AbercrombieHot was, of course, released after the abercrombie kids cologne: AbercrombieCool (no hashtag). That cologne's name has a similar origin.  

At the moment, #AbercrombieHot comes in one size: 1.7 fluid ounces. Its price points match FIERCE's at $54.

Abercrombie & Fitch has been known to release many scents for men and women across its brands. It wasn't long ago that A&F released the 1892 collection for men, which consisted of four distinct scents. A review of all the scents from that line can be found (here). The Company's innovative scents have generally always been either hit or miss. FIERCE by A&F and SoCal by Hollister are my favorite cologne scents!
