Music PROFILED! | Abercrombie's Musicmeister, Ted Keyes...

Ted energizin' crowds at A&F Challenge 2013, September 9, 2013
Image, @abercrombie on Instagram
TED IS LIFE! Enthralling worldwide fans of the iconic Abercrombie & Fitch retail theater with its sick beats, the musicmeister is the mastermind behind the coalescence that makes up the revered playlists, soundtracks to the fantasies at play. His creations fill and feel the heart and soul – literally when blasting it up! – and transport, in euphoric soundwave ecstasy, to the emotional cool of the lifestyles' dream. Commander of beats, our guy is that special golden key to the ultimate party-up!

The man with the hookup, Ted took on the role of music supervision for the Company back in May 2008 and has been responsible in overseeing all operating aspects of the music facet of the business. This has entailed global digital delivery and strategy, promotions, strategic licensing, talent and label relations, sequencing, and mixing and mastering as detailed in his 2013 Brand Innovators profile. And, oh, the iconic playlists in our community he's overseen since. Who could furthermore forget the absolutely jubilant Christmas playlists of 2010 and 2011 and, signature of the holiday season at A&F in particular since his start, the loved "Rosie Christmas" by Donna Summer: "It's really hard to find great, great Christmas music that fits our style unless we find something really amazing that we think is iconic," he told to The Columbus Dispatch (which discussed the use of holiday tracks and rather more early for the season in retail). The most profitable time of the year for A&F, the holidays got a track-sleighride that gained high fun in the start-years of the 2010s before a sudden halt for Christmas 2012 – a markedly new feel of music for Abercrombie & Fitch was introduced that season that incorporated heavy use of house music elements – which many found very "Ruehl" – for the first time. Since then, the A&F Playlist (and those of the rest of the family) has been subject to a higher degree of scrutiny and intrigue with every succeeding release, in the community, for a very distinct evolution, from the precedent established structure, though in progressive continuum of codes essential to the brand (i.e. energy, sensuality, etc.) and, too, maintaining ties with featured artists with a long trackrecord with A&F and establishing new ones. What is to be highly appreciated from this evolution, now into the mid-2010s, is the admirable modernity which Ted has brought forth, in his pursuit of keeping the playlists in step and of relevance to the times, in organic form of what is happening in electronica and EDM hitherto. He is pure undisputed epic greatness!

Apart from his work at Abercrombie, crowds totally go mad in witness of his killer skills at live events...

"[Ted does] not disappoint. TK incorporated numerous genres of [EDM] and popular vocals into his set and the crowd was digging it! We were trying to find a word to describe his set while we were packing up and we decided that Ted Keyes played a very appropriate set, which is a huge compliment in the DJ community." - Trance Tuesday blog

His working career prior to Abercrombie & Fitch was at Sony Entertainment, in New York City, as a recording engineer where he spent nearly 2.5 years in role. Can't resist the sweet call of the Moose, and o'er to Columbus he went!

Ted's Twitter and IG are @teddyzep and @tedkeyes, respectively, and, though set private, may give you the friendly okay or nah. (The Sitch on Fitch Editor-in-Chief is a follower since last year and has had cool interaction with him and even Peyton; he is also followed by celebrities including Jesse Decker, wife of New York Jets' wide receiver Eric Decker, and by the Human Rights Campaign). His privacy is understandable, though his social media presence is only noted here for how widespread awareness of him came to be by 2013 through it in our community. Furthermore, he uses it as a connection tool for his work.

News Now! | Christos Angelides, Abercrombie Brand President...

WHO IN THE world is Christos Angelides and why him? That is the question rocking the Abercrombie & Fitch community – and will continue to do so across the field – since the announcement of the British fashion retail mover-and-shaker as the new brand president of the A&F and abercrombie kids divisions. Once incumbent of this newly created leadership position, this man will be in charge of specifically spearheading the FIERCE Moose into an anticipated future ever more brighter than the yesterday. Regardless of his noteworthy accomplishments hitherto, Angelides is only now truly coming into spotlight and, in effect, under critical scrutiny of how he'll fit in and be of well use to the distinguishable, globally-revered all-American icon.

A driven and outstanding individual in the industry, Christos Angelides, age 51 and a business and economics graduate of Leicester's De Montfort University, is the primary figure credited for the admirable profit turnover, during his tenure as Executive Director and Products Director, of Next, Plc. – a British retailer (of various-brands fashions, footwear, home, flowers and wines and spirits) which, in 2012, surpassed Marks & Spencer as the UK's biggest by revenue. With online/catalog at roughly 35% of net sales and accounting for well over 50% of profit among its many great milestones, Next has been positioned predominantly in the market and internationally during Angelides 28 years at the company.

He may keep a very private profile in the industry, but neither is he totally a shining star out of the limelight. Angelides, having been sponsored for the honor by Adidas, was one of the two people who carried the Olympic Flame, through Staffordshire, during its Torch Relay leg in the UK before the commencement of the London-hosted 2012 Summer Olympic Games. Drapers magazine online also listed him as #11 on its 2012 list of top 100 people in fashion retail.

Sought by Abercrombie & Fitch Co. was an individual with exceptional credentials with the capacity to direct merchandising and retail operations sharply in line, ever-healthy and progressive, with the specific aesthetic of the Abercrombie & Fitch and kids divisions. In code of such renowned aesthetic, this furthermore includes the necessity to maintain a distinct edge against competitors across all facets of the business and the continuation of building robust direct-to-consumer operations to a sizable portion of net sales. The Company also looks forward to introducing third-party selling via offering Abercrombie & Fitch goods on ASOS – one of the UK's biggest fashions and beauty online retailers and catering internationally to youthful consumers – beginning in the fall this year. Angelides is only a perfect match.

Being one of the most defining landmark moves for Abercrombie since the 1992 appointment of Mike Jeffries, the choosing of Angelides as the brand president is historic. Apart from the fact that this will be the first time in its modern history that Mike will no longer be the sole decision maker over the A&F label (although Angelides will still report to him, Mike being his superior), this will be the first time in its 122-year history that a non-American helms influential stewardship of the Abercrombie & Fitch name. Furthermore, qualifications for being a director of an A&F Co. division include being promotable for possible future internal succession for CEO: Angelides could well be the next in the imminent post-Jeffries era.

The perks of leaving Next as brand president for Abercrombie & Fitch and abercrombie kids will take Angelides to a new stage in his career for explosive higher opportunities, and it has all come in good timing for both him and A&F. Although being considered the major power behind the successes at Next, chances for higher aspirations' realizations within that company had been slim for Angelides and were to be so indefinitely: Simon Wolfson, current CEO of Next and about five years younger, is likely not going anytime soon. Also, despite Next being larger than Abercrombie & Fitch in terms of net sales, Angelides will now be in powerful leadership position of, and immersing himself in, a historic brand commanding premium reputability, worth, and unparalleled heritage – him coming to being on steppingstone for possibly being CEO of the greater Abercrombie & Fitch Co. in the future. With him, he'll bring his vigor and intellect into the Company in mutual benefit.

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has provided Angelides with an annual salary of US$995,000 (a sum equal to that of Diane Chang, Executive Vice President of Sourcing, and the now-retired-from-the Company Leslee Herro, former Executive Vice President of merchandise planning, inventory management, and brand sensing) to be paid out to him in bi-weekly installments during his employment. However, the salary amount is susceptible to performance and miscellaneous economic factors. He will be receiving multiple benefits and considerable grants options as stipulated in documents provided to him during the employment proceedings and as filled with the US Securities and Exchange Commision.

Furthermore, the company will be securing a visa for him to permit his working on US soil. Angelides has been offered a one-time relocation bonus payment of US$50,000 and also relocation assistance benefits (to used by December 21, 2015): "two house hunting trips for his family; temporary housing for up to two months; movement of household goods; and reasonable and customary closing costs toward the purchase of a new primary residence in Central Ohio (up to $40,000)." (All cool although the man is wealthy anyway). He will have to reimburse the Company for all relocation expenses if he resigns without Good Reason or his employment terminated for gross misconduct if it occurs within the first 36 months of his starting work.

Miscellaneous perks effective upon employment:
  • Use of the 8,000 sq ft A&F Gym fitness facility at Home Office. Membership cost of US$5 for all associates paid via automatic reduction on bi-weekly payroll.
  • For him, 40% discount on qualifying purchases on Abercrombie & Fitch and abercrombie kids transactions. 30% discount on qualifying Hollister Co. purchases.
  • 25 vacation days and 3 personal days, to be pro-rated during his first year based on his start date, per fiscal year. 5 sick days and 7 paid holidays provided to all Home Office associates per annum.

After one month of employment, he will qualify for the following:
  • Non-qualified Savings Plan
  • Entering the A&F corporate programs for healthcare coverage
  • Life & disability insurance
  • The Flexible Spending Account for healthcare and childcare for making payments "with pre-tax dollars via automatic payroll deductions".
  • The Associate Assistance Program with him and "any covered dependents access to free, confidential psychological, financial or legal counseling through [the A&F] AAP provider." Up to 8 free visits available "per specific issue".

After one year of employment, he will qualify for a Qualified Savings Plan.

The Company will indemnify, defend, and hold Angelides harmless to maximum extent permitted by law, and by A&F by-laws, in defense against any legal proceeding, should any occur, which may make him a part of as for being officer or director of Abercrombie & Fitch.

Christos Angelides signed on for employment with Abercrombie & Fitch Co. on June 10, 2014, underneath the signature of Michael Jeffries (CEO) and James Bierbower (A&F Human Resources) in a summary letter sent to him dated May 30, signed and sent back, and filed by the US S&E Commision that June 10th.

The most noted criticism of his choosing to work at Abercrombie & Fitch has come from Richard Hyman, a British independent retail consultant: "He could have had any retail job. He's done an outstanding job at Next and been at the top of headhunters lists for the last 10 to 15 years. He could have been running [Marks & Spencer]'s clothing business many times over." Hyman's reasoning on that stance of his is based on amusing ignorance that's made for mis-hit opinions for decades, "Abercrombie is one of those brands with its best days behind it." What a schmuck.

On the Company's June 10th announcement of having secured Angelides for brand president, Mike stated:

"We are excited to welcome Christos to the Abercrombie & Fitch team and to deepen our bench of senior leadership talent. Christos brings 28 years of experience working with a multi-billion dollar international retailer. His experience with all aspects of running a business made him the perfect candidate for this newly created role. Christos’ appointment is a critical step in our long-term strategy of being organized to win and we are excited to welcome him to the Abercrombie team."

Included with the release were these words by Angelides:

"I am honored to join one of the most iconic apparel brands in the world. Abercrombie & Fitch is a storied brand with global appeal and a clearly defined aesthetic, and I am excited to help the brand continue to grow. I look forward to working with Mike Jeffries and the rest of the A&F team at what is a very exciting time for the Company."

Angelides begins working for the Company in the fall: Christmas 2014 will be his first full fashion season incumbent in the position as brand president as will Q4 FY2014 be his first full business quarter in place. Welcome to the Fam, Christos!

An A&F and HCo Guy in Paris! | Corporate Caring: the Abercrombie & Fitch Initiatives...

Hi guys! Yes, I'm still the Paris contributor for The Sitch on Fitch, sadly I couldn't write a post for last week!

Few days ago while I was working at my HCo Store near Paris, I saw this paper on the staff board talking about the Christmas monetary donations for our collegues (Associates) all over the world. I wanted to know more about it, and I figured out that the Diversity, Inclusion and Diverse charity programs were a huge part of the Abercrombie & Fitch family...

I would love to talk more about the various Diversity and Inclusion ideas of the company - aspects which I believe are the main keys to a company’s/organization's success - but that would take more pages than a simple article ;) That is why I would like to focus today on the international initiatives and the A&F Challenge, events which respectivly help local communities in diverse countries and raises money to benefit various organizations and charities in Ohio from which A&F operates on a global scale.

You probably didn't know it, but Abercrombie cares a lot about communities, their associates and global worldwide problems (such as cancer, etc.). Yes, you must think "You are talking about sad things". Sad yes, but now you can say that Abercrombie & Fitch is cooler than you once though! Because cool is not only fun, but about also taking caring and contributing to solutions for worldwide and local issues by taking Initiatives.
"Abercrombie & Fitch and our associates believe in supporting the communities where we do business. We are committed to being an exemplary philanthropic citizen by giving back and making a positive impact in our communities."- A&F CARES
And yes, the company is showing is commitment through monetary donations and volunteer work. As the company expands internationally, the efforts do not stop. You probably remember the Haitian earthquake in January 2010, and the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in March 2011? Both affected millions of people, and also associates and associates families (A&F is in Japan, as we should know). The Company raised money and gave assistance to help in the relief and aid for the rebuilding of those countries.

A&F Challenge - Run-Walk tour

Further more, one of the biggest initiative is the annual A&F Challenge, hosted on the Abercrombie & Fitch campus in New Albany, Ohio, USA. It's an event which combines athletic challenges such as a 20 miles (XX Kms) bike tour, a run-walk tour, a kid challenge zone, and the event finishes with gourmet food, amazing drinks, silent auction and live entertainment with artists such as Walk The Moon and Electric Guest (A&F Challenge 2012)...

A&F Challenge on the Campus... The party is starting!

Abercrombie & Fitch is each year underwriting all event costs to provide 100% of the donations for the Ohio State University Medical Center's program for health and others diseases center during those past few years

The 11th A&F Challenge this year was in August with one mission: Find a cure for cancer. I must say, the commitment of the Company, by contributing financially and through active volunteering work, is more than respected. As some people say: A&F is not only a brand, it's a way of life...

BEHIND-THE-SCENES! | An Abercrombie & Fitch Look Book Photoshoot...

Womens look book model being prepared for photoshoot.  |  (image source)
After having launched the A&F Looks feature online back in 17 July 2010, Abercrombie & Fitch now finally gives the fans a look at what goes on behind-the-scenes. Makeup, pose, and FLASH!

It is incredibly fantastic to have a peek backstage and become familiarized with the process...if only in a short little video such as this one. It would be very amazing for Abercrombie & Fitch to engage its fans more with insightful cool videos bringing us to a closer, intimate level with the Company.

Abercrombie & Fitch may be the coolest fashion retailer on the planet, but it doesn't match the level of intimacy between customer and company as, for great example, do Burberry, Louis Vuitton, and Dior...brands known less for their cool, and more so for their exclusivity, yet commanding 14 million, 11 million, and 10 million Facebook likes, respectively. Those are levels much higher than A&F which has recently stagnated in growth of Facebook likes. (BTW, Dior just this month surpassed the 10,000,000 mark). Basically, there's more to success and maintaining customers interested than just blasting transparent cool; and from A&F, it's a cool – the same ole idea of "cool" – being criticized by analysts as being no longer enough. Time goes on and evolution is the natural flow of things. Honestly, from A&F we want to see more than just pictures of abs. It's not that no one adores the display of beefcake, but rather that it's just an up-front fleeting public relations ploy and nothing more...and seemingly now the only trick in the bag (apart from annoyingly recycling and overphotoshopping photography of seasons past). We all want a return to all things fresh and new with a forward eye into the future, and most importantly to get close and personal with the HOTTEST company – to engage and enjoy! The A&F Club...this video above...hopefully the humble start of wonderful more stuff to come. Keep it moving, keep it new, keep it evolving energized and bold...and always keep it FIERCE! Together, Company and fan, we're invincible...

PHOTO EXCLUSIVE! A&F Chairman & CEO Mike Jeffries at Abercrombie & Fitch Hong Kong!!!

He revolutionized Abercrombie & Fitch into being THE HOTTEST BRAND in the world! You love A&F and its spin-off brands abercrombie kids, Hollister and Gilly Hicks? Well, then, you should be forever grateful for the brilliant GENIUS that is the A&F Chairman & CEO, Michael "Mike" S. Jeffries!

So monumental is the coming of Abercrombie & Fitch to the Chinese market that Mike himself is in Hong Kong to oversee the historic event! This is BIG! A wonderful contributor of The Sitch on Fitch, in Hong Kong, was at the Pedder Building on August 7 (HKT) and she got an exclusive snapshot of Mike!!!

Take note that Mike (as he prefers to be called) rarely makes public appearances or interviews. That we were able to get this photo of him is a miracle! WE LOVE MIKE!

Anyway... For months now, we've been talking about how monumentally important for the Company is the opening of Abercrombie's first store for China. A&F, with its heritage of privilege and modern all-American Casual Luxury, must make a perfect impression upon the globally-significant-and-influencial Chinese market voracious for upscale foreign goods with high-status. We're not doubting A&F will make its mark in China and history will be made!

After introducing Mahjong to American culture, and making Abercrombie & Fitch the focus of the Mahjong craze, Ezra Fitch personally traveled to China in the early-20th century to oversee the translation of the game's Chinese instructions into the English language... Now, in the 21st century, Abercrombie & Fitch will finally open its first doors in China... It's an event the current revolutionary head of the Company, Mike, cannot miss!

Corporate Report! | Fiscal 2011 Summary and Fiscal 2012 Outlook...

Looking forward to a fantastic 2012!
This is very, very wonderful and exciting news for everybody!

On February 15, Abercrombie & Fitch Co released its Fiscal 2011 results along with its outlook for Fiscal 2012! Read ahead because this is going to make any A&F fan's day!

Fiscal 2011

Fiscal 2011 for A&F began on 30 January 2011 and ended on 28 January 2012. Check out the highlights from the report...

  • Abercrombie & Fitch Co surpasses the US$4,000,000,000 mark in revenue with a total Company haul-in of US$4.158 billion! That's a 20% increase from Fiscal 2010!
    • That figure includes US$3.108 billion, a 10% increase from 2010, in America and...
    • US$1.050 billion, a 63% increase from 2010, in international sales.
  • The Abercrombie & Fitch brand made US$1.665 billion in total sales
  • The abercrombie kids brand made US$398 million in total sales
  • The Hollister brand made US$2.022 billion in total sales. This is historic for Hollister which has now surpassed the US$2,000,000,000 mark. Also of note for this historic figure is the coincidence of '22' - the fictional '1922' establishment of Hollister - in the figures.
  • There was no report of Gilly Hicks. However, totaling the sales for A&F, abercrombie, and HCo brings US$4.085 billion which leaves only US$73 million for total sales for the Gilly Hicks brand!
  • US$437.1 million were spent on marketing and general and administrative expenses.
  • The Company spent a total of US$316.6 million for new stores and renovations, and that includes US$60 million spent on information technology and other Home Office (headquarters) projects.
  • In conclusion, the Company (including all brands) opened 47 stores internationally and closed 71 stores in the United States; and the Company came out with US$127.7 million in net income.

Fiscal 2012 outlook

The financial stuff for the bygone year is interesting, but every year the most exciting thing to finally get to in these reports is the outlook for the coming year! In the outlook is where you get info on what stores are opening! And you are really gonna like this...

We already knew that Abercrombie & Fitch is on track to open in Amsterdam, Hamburg, Hong Kong, and Munich. For the Irish, however, this little piece is the best part of all... After much delay and uncertainty, A&F is totally opening in Dublin this year! So hot!

But that is not even the half of it! The Amsterdam and Munich flagship stores for Abercrombie & Fitch will also be having an abercrombie kids store of their own like in Milan and Düsseldorf!

Oh, and also confirmed to open this year is the first ever abercrombie kids in the United Kingdom! Not only that, but it will be the first stand-alone abercrombie kids flagship store in the world! It will be located at the notable 3 Savile Row where The Beatles made their last live performance in January 1969! Read more on this (here) on The Sitch on Fitch!

And! And! Hollister will be opening nearly 40 more international stores in 2012! This will include 10 more stores in Germany, as well as a few in the UK, and some more in China!

To support its fantastic expansion plans, Abercrombie & Fitch anticipates spending up to US$400 million in Fiscal 2012! This fiscal year began on January 29, the Spring season launched on February 8, and store openings will begin to kick off by late-March!

You can read the complete summary report for yourself (here) from A&F Investors... We're gonna have one totally unforgettable 2012! Cheers!

Abercrombie & Fitch Collaborates with IBM for 'Smarter Commerce'

Abercrombie & Fitch has its sights set on the future of commerce...  |  (image source)
On 17 January 2012, the National Retail Federation, the largest retail trade association in the world, held its annual conference in New York City. During the event, the technology and consulting corporation IBM announced that Abercrombie & Fitch is "working" with them to implement what IBM calls "smarter commerce" into A&F's direct-to-consumer operations (e.g. the online "e-commerce" business of A&F).[source 1] This is a move, in part by Abercrombie & Fitch, to further improve its customer-business relations, with "speed, efficiency, and adaptability,"[1] as it continues to grow its business in an environment in which consumer activity is becoming ever more influenced by mobile and social networking.

But what exactly is smarter commerce? It is a concept by IBM which the company developed to signify higher business practices of using collected consumer data, primarily through online activity, using newly created software, to position marketing more effectively to better meet customer shopping preferences. This would entail monitoring in real-time, using social media, "to better assess the effectiveness of new services and product offerings"[source 2] while "automating purchasing, marketing, sales, and fulfillment processes to better serve customers."[1] In effect, this would provide A&F with the ability to "continue to deliver quality merchandise, and provide a unique shopping experience that will deepen its relationship with consumers."[1]

Reportedly, Abercrombie & Fitch wants to elevate its online operations to a $1 billion dollar business by sometime in the near future and it will only achieve this by harnessing the power of modern, innovative cross-channel solutions. We no longer live in a world where the majority of interaction between a business and customer is through a brick-and-mortar store. We're becoming highly interconnected through the evolution of social networking and online activity and this is taking customer-business interaction to a new level. It is crucial for Abercrombie & Fitch to maintain an online shopping experience which satisfies and surpasses the preferences of its shoppers while also keeping track of what works and what doesn't. After all, about "2/3 of all consumers make a first purchase because of a digital experience."[source 3]

To reach its aspirations, Abercrombie has thus selected IBM's smarter commerce ingenuity. As the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for A&F, John Deane, explained, "We require a world-class solution that will scale over time, bolster international expansion, and support cross-channel commerce. IBM's e-commerce and order management solutions meet our requirements for infrastructure, scalability, and future growth."[1]

If you've been paying attention over the past few months, you've noticed the steps the Company has been taking to further advance. Redesigned e-commerce sites for the A&F brands were launched in early-2011 to systematically improve product organization and online shopping; and a search feature was added as well as a further step. Meanwhile, the utilization of Facebook as a social marketing tool continues to reach out to customers worldwide. (Facebook plug-ins were integrated into hollisterco.com - "like" and sharing buttons for individual products - but were later removed in 2011). Furthermore, mobile websites for the brands were reintroduced in late-2011 as an improvement from the first, short-lived attempt at mobile e-commerce back in late-2009.

And it is not just Abercrombie & Fitch getting uplifts. Dior, which previously managed an annoying website itself - the Dior Homme division was even more tedious - launched an updated version of dior.com, in late-2011, which encompasses all of its divisions in one concise and beautifully navigable site which brings forth an online experience with the company that puts its previous version to shame. Louis Vuitton, which, too, recently updated its website (also a much appreciated improvement), and created its official Facebook page, is getting ready to launch, for the first time, its mobile site. The point is that companies are aware of the power that modern social, online, and mobile technology now have in retail in the 21st century as important nodes of commerce.

Abercrombie & Fitch, a specialty retailer and a global leader in its respective industry, is keeping up with the changing times. Indeed, these have been challenging years (with the Great Recession and what not), but the Company has proved capable of adapting and surviving. Re-established as a fashion retailer in 1992, Abercrombie & Fitch has seen much change in the industry and has grown considerably since...it's only just begun. And this collaboration with IBM will continue secure a prosperous future for the ever-expanding, worldwide A&F Empire! Cheers to that!

For its 2012 Corporate Equality Index, the Human Resources Campaign has listed Abercrombie & Fitch as a company that is 100% LGBT friendly. The rating signifies companies that "reflect equal health coverage for all LGBT employees and their families, including full parity for domestic partner benefits not only in the basic medical coverage, but in dependent care, retirement, and other benefits that affect families' financial and medical well-being." It is just another great quality of A&F as a modern, progressive business in the greater scope of the world.

You can check out the official report from the HRC (here). It's 94 pages long if you care to know. LOL.

The shots in this post are from the A&F Quarterly Screen Test edition from Back-to-School 2010. Really beautiful photography by the master Bruce Weber. His photography is also known for a romanticism of homoeroticism (much of which is affiliated with Abercrombie & Fitch). It is work which admires, not just homoeroticism, but generally all forms of the idealized, unbound comradeship and romance of youth...and that is what A&F is all about.

Abercrombie's come out with a very cool promo video of its Home Office headquarters. You know. Just to show off how awesome it is. haha. Seriously, Abercrombie & Fitch recruiters are going to be visiting universities (primarily, but not limited to, the United States and the United Kingdom) in their search for talented students looking to further develop their career at A&F. After it all, 50 students will be selected for the Leadership Development Program at Home Office. It gets really competitive. Abercrombie & Fitch is seriously devoted to its strong business and career values and that includes people with a equally firm ethics, passion, and dedication.

Check out the Leadership Development Program video on Facebook (here). It's completely awesome. The beginning clips are from the promotional films of A&F Milan, Ginza, and Paris. Other screenshots featured in the video aren't actually recent though. A few are footage from three years or more! The song playing on the video is Good Life (Demolition Crew Remix) by One Republic. Have a look at A&F Careers if you're further interested (here). Stay FIERCE!

British Gal Lands Herself a Job with the Hottest Company in Town!

The new FIERCE girl in town! | (image source)
She won over Abercrombie & Fitch with her talent and keen mind...and by the end of this month, Laura Mees-Harris will travel, from her native England, to the United States to take up position as one of the newest designers for the Company!

Hailing from Meols (a village on the Wirran Peninsula), the 23 year-old was a student at Northumbria University, with  focus on menswear, when Abercrombie & Fitch came knocking on the door in 2010. Mees-Harris was selected to be a part of 100 students chosen to work on a Back-to-School fashion project by A&F Recruiters: “They came to the university in the summer to scout and we were asked to design an autumn collection, four full outfits, by the following February.” And when the recruiters returned in February 2011, she passed on along with 39 others for an interview.

Two weeks later, Mees-Harris found herself at A&F Campus. She, along with about 40 others just as herself, were put to the test to see how they interacted as a team: "It was very intense. We had dinners which were lovely, but you were aware that everything was being done with a view to seeing how you interacted as a team. So, although it was exciting, it was like one long interview." Teamwork is crucial in this industry, but it's even more so at A&F because it shows how comfortable and social you are among others. Not only does it create a positive working environment, but it is a part of the bright and energetic A&F Culture.

Within a week after she arrived back home, Mees-Harris got the call...she got a position! Very wonderful for her. Not only is she starting a job two months after graduating, but she's also starting her career at an internationally renown fashion retailer.

Mees-Harris will join the A&F family by the end of September. Expecting to undergo training, she's probably going to take part in either the Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister brand. And for a girl who had to to fly over the Atlantic for the job of a lifetime, leaving behind her family and friends, from her small English village, to a new city in America - Campus in headquartered in New Albany, but she'll arrive in at Columbus - must seem unnerving. But come on! She's gonna be a part of the coolest crew in town! There will be 16 other designers starting off along with her and Abercrombie & Fitch "has already arranged lots of social things for us to do together, so I won’t feel like I’m totally on my own when I go out there," Mees-Harris says.

She is a very fortunate and gifted person, Laura Mees-Harris. Her work and personality got her this amazing position and I'm very happy for her. Honestly, who wouldn't kill to be a part of the A&F team. A&F Home Office is a very exciting and wholly cool place! A cool and intimate environment...surrounded by gorgeous wilderness, amazing architecture (and facilities including a great cafeteria-à-la-restaurant and an awesome gym), and with incredible and good-looking people amongst you...overwhelming? Yes, and enjoy it!

And, to you, my readers, stay FIERCE!

A&F Campus, home of the hyper-cool and totally gorgeous!

Forget working there, I want to live there! A&F Home Office where everything goes down. It is an idealised college-campus-of-sorts were fun and cool rule the curriculum...it seems rather more like a college town, really. I like to also look at it as a very Fitch-alicious Rome: the complex is the capital of an ever expanding international fashion empire that has been taking the world by a storm!

Home Office is completely awe-inspiring, and the intention was for it to be so when designed back in the early 2000s. The A&F Team is surrounded by their element. The architecture, and the overall aesthetic of the entire campus, is a contrast of the rustic outdoors and modern appeal. Such illustration embodies the historic heritage of Abercrombie & Fitch (as a respected outdoors company) while capturing its revolutionary modern image (as a world renown fashion entity): the two, harmoniously co-existing, signify a progressive future. To keep development flowing, the campus is centralized, balanced, and relaxed. Smilling faces work and chill side-along-side among the many structures housing all the state-of-the-art amenities that keep the ball rolling. Everything that you see in stores - from the lighting to the scent - is meticulously chosen in on-Campus mock-up stores. Home Office is where it is all at!

Check out the video above (if you haven't done so already) to get a visual perspective of what I mean...its very vibrant, energetic...only A&F.
