Under Construction! | Upcoming Abercrombie & Fitch Dublin Flagship Gets FIERCE Ad...

It could only be Abercrombie & Fitch...
DUBLIN! You can almost smell FIERCE in the air!

This past weekend, The Sitch on Fitch shared a photo on its Facebook page of 34 College Green in Dublin with its all-new Abercrombie & Fitch ad! You can see it (here) if you missed it. That photo came to us via our Dublin correspondent Patrick Mooney... And we promised more!

Well take a stare at these two new images capturing the ad in all its breadth and beauty! Bold, clean, and iconic...

Aren't they awesome shots?! Patrick thinks they're average, given that he took 'em with the little free time he had, and so he wants to take some more photos this weekend. That sounds quite nice! And, naturally, we'll share them with you here on The Sitch on Fitch!

A&F Dublin will open doors during the upcoming Christmas 2012 fashion season!

Stay FIERCE!

The Sitch on Fitch greatly appreciates Patrick Mooney for contributing in the creation of this post. The photos in this post are owned by Patrick Mooney, for The Sitch on Fitch, and they may not be used without permission by the author.

Oh-So-Cute Undies for Hollister Bettys?! You Betcha!

Line 'em up! ...All in the cutest colors for the season!
We all know of Gilly Hicks, the Cheeky Cousin of Abercrombie & Fitch, selling the hottest bras and the cutest Down Undies! But now Hollister seems to be trying a little intimate venture of its own...

As fellow Abercrombie/Gilly Hicks Girl Hayleigh Tilton shares with us, Hollister undies for Bettys are being sold at the HCo shop in the Volusia Mall of Daytona Beach, Florida! Seems that this is a product test strategy of some sort: the Volusia Mall Hollister store seems to be the only one known so far to sell the undies...there may be a select few other stores which sell 'em – maybe – so share if you've seen them at your Hollister by any chance!

Anyway, Hayleigh was kind enough to take some quick photos to show us all...

Pretty nice, right? They are not Gilly Hicks undies... It's all Hollister! The bras and undies are not even sold online hollisterco.com! Only in-store, and they have been in-store for a few little weeks now. Much speculation over this product offering...

And thanks to Hayleigh for her great pics!

Million Dollar Scandal! Former Abercrombie Store Model Sues the Company Over 'Sexual Predator' Allegations...

Ex-A&F store model Ben Bowers, plaintiff in lawsuit over sexual allegations.
Image by vsionlosangeles.com  |  (image source)
What does one have to do to achieve the desirable relaxed and sensual look in photography? Well, according to a former Abercrombie & Fitch store model, he was asked to bare all his flesh and give himself a touch of his hand...masturbate in front of the camera! So boldly alleges Benjamine "Ben" Bowers who was an eighteen year-old at the time when he went in front of the lens – on 17 June 2011 at Jackson, Mississippi – for photographer Brian Hilburn...the guy identified in the lawsuit as a "sexual predator."

And what in the world does Abercrombie & Fitch have to do with this alleged incident? Models who do not make the final cut for A&F marketing campaigns are instead directed towards recommended modeling agents. As Bowers has shared, it was an A&F Casting director who referred him to Hilburn. And as Bowers strongly furthers, "Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister Co. are delivering the names, photographs, addresses and telephone numbers of its young employees to a sexual predator."[source 1]

So is the basis of this scandal which also references victims, not just Bowers, but "young and vulnerable employees [who] are instructed to pose nude and masturbate in front of Hilburn while he photographs and videotapes them. Instead of being rewarded with a selection as a coveted model for Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister Co., the young employees are subjected to shameful and embarrassing sexual harassment."[source 1] Thus, Bowers, the plaintiff in the lawsuit, is presented as being but one of supposedly numerous models to whom this has occurred. He's furthermore stated that he complied, scared and confused, because he was intimidated by Hilburn who affirmed that Bowers had to acquiesce to establish a career:

"Specifically, Hilburn stated that there is a specific 'relaxed' look that characterizes the expressions on the faces of the most successful male models in the industry. Hilburn told plaintiff that he had tried various methods to replicate this expression on the models he shoots, including giving them alcoholic beverages before the shoot and even having them masturbate in another room before coming in to be photographed; however, he discovered the most effective method was for the model to masturbate in front of the camera so the facial expression could be captured on film immediately after orgasm. Hilburn also stated to plaintiff this was an industry secret he heard from a photographer in New York. Hilburn stated to plaintiff that this 'look' is what all photographers expect from models, so naturally, he had to go through this procedure in order to generate the best photographs for introducing plaintiff to the industry." – excerpt from complaint (source)

Bowers even says he was given an iPad with pornography, and that it wasn't long (no pun intended!) before Hilburn exposed his own penis to him – supposedly to engage Bowers – and even made comments regarding their genitalia. Ultimately, the former A&F store model states that Hilburn's industry-insider-masturbation-method was made up only to get Bowers naked and to perform the sexual act, photographed and videotaped, for the photographer's personal sexual-predatory pleasure...

If the entire thing is true, then it's kinda stupid Bowers didn't realize that and walk out on the spot. Surely, we've all heard the dreadful retelling of aspiring young models who end up in a nasty situation by abusive photographers. Most often, you hear about the sexual advances and sexual harassment which befalls the naive unaware of the realities of the industry and of the predators lurking within...

Regarding Bowers' case, we know not more then what is alleged by the plaintiff and it's all up for the Superior Court to decide whether to rule in favor of the plaintiff (Bowers) or the defendants which are named in the 41-page complaint, carrying fourteen causes of action, as being Abercrombie & Fitch Co., Abercrombie & Fitch Stores Inc., Abercrombie & Fitch Trading Co., J.M. Hollister LLC, Hollister Co. California LLC, a woman by the name of Daisy Ashburn, Brian Hilburn and AIG Model & Talent Management LLC. The plaintiff, Ben Bowers, is being represented by Matthew Panagiotis (Zomber & Panagiotis) and is seeking US$1 million+ in damages for fraud, negligent misrepresentation, fraud in the inducement, rescission due to fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, deceit, sexual harassment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and negligent hiring and supervision.[source 1] ...Yeah, that's quite a load!

We'll see how this turns out as legal proceedings further develop...

Dude! Hollister is Totally Heading to Japan!

Setting for surf across the Pacific...
Yeah, that's right! The introduction of Hollister into the Japanese market has always been imminent considering the popularity of the SoCal-inspired brand across various leading international markets. And as recently disclosed by Mike Jeffries (Chairman & CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch) in the earnings call for the First Quarter of Fiscal 2012, the Company is now sure about the near-future arrival of the Hollister brand in the Land of the Rising Sun!

This is a pretty interesting revelation in terms of expansion of the Hollister brand in Asia and, more importantly, considering the future of A&F's business operations in Japan (日本). Pre-2010, you could have assumed that Japan would have been the first place in which Hollister would have arrived in Asia. As it turned out, the Company chose to open the first Hollister in the region in Hong Kong, China. Why? Because of the great potential that China now offers in the 2010s for aspirational retailers amid the nation's ever growing market driven by consumers reaching influence on an ever increasing global scale. Meanwhile, Japan – although still the richest nation in the region and the world's third biggest economy – has been experiencing an economic recovery and has been a trying market for Abercrombie & Fitch since the Company opened its A&F flagships in Tokyo (東京) (2009) and Fukuoka (福岡市) (2010). The Fukuoka location was demoted to outlet store status by the beginning of 2012, and it is expected to close when the Company leases the space to another business. And although the deal for A&F Ginza (銀座), in Tokyo, is now considered to have been not particularly economic, the Company is making things work on that location: it is confident that it understands the Japanese market far better than previously thought, and it is determined to push success in Japan...

As has been typical in its international expansion operations across various markets, the Company will continue to manage its one A&F Ginza flagship while carefully opening mall-based Hollister shops throughout Japan in the near-future. This is very much like its model in the United Kingdom in which there is its one A&F London flagship, but multiple Hollister, and now Gilly Hicks, locations. As of now, a similar model is also found in Italy, France, Spain, and Brussels in which each nation has one A&F Flagship, but numerous HCo shops.

But how awesome is that?! Hollister to finally open in Japan! There is really no known year when Southern California cool will crash its waves on Japan, but, of course, you know The Sitch on Fitch will keep you in the know, fellow Dudes and Bettys!

A Gilly Hicks Girl in Germany! | Are You Ready for This Summer, GH Girls?

Hey everyone! :-*

First, I'm so sorry that I couldn't write a post last week, I had so much to learn for final exams this year! Buuuuut, today I have a question for you: Are you ready for this summer?

I think it's always fun to go out with friends on the beach and have some wonderful hours full of sun, happiness, cute lifeguards ;-) and a lot of sweets.

There's just one problem every year: where can I find the perfect bikini? The ONE special bikini that fits perfectly and beautifully highlights my curves and looks pretty. Then I thought: ''Okay, well... let's have a look over the cute bikinis at GH.''

And so my lovely girls, I've found IT. The ONE bikini I Want! I'm not sure if it fits perfectly but I just fell in love with it. Yeah I know...falling in love with clothes sounds weird :-D But I'm sure you know what I mean ;-).

Do you wanna see it? Here it is!

It's red. The craziest red you'll ever find. Red. And Classy.

The bottom looks a bit too dark and more orange on the picture but I think this is the perfect bottom, isn't it? :-).

Sooo my lovely girls, what's your perfect bikini? Is it from the GH or HCo Family and how does it look like? :-) Do share and STAY FIERCE!

Love from Germany, Jess!

P.S. The bikini reminds me of the classic American Baywatch – because they had swimsuits in the same hot colour! But to be honest, comparing Pamela Anderson with Gilly Hicks is a bit weird, isn't it? IDK LOL :D

Abercrombie & Fitch Hong Kong Opening is Officially Set for August!

The four-story Abercrombie & Fitch Hong Kong ad, mounted on
the neo-classical Pedder Building, looks stunning...   |   Image by Patrick F.
The upcoming flagship store will proudly mark the introduction of the aspirational Abercrombie & Fitch brand into the Chinese market! ...Are you STOKED for A&F Hong Kong?!

Details are further trickling out about the upcoming opening to arguably the most anticipated A&F Flagship of the year! It's official... the hottest models will be opening doors to the destined-to-be-historic A&F flagship store in Hong Kong (香港), sometime in August, during the Back-to-School 2012 fashion season!

The significance surrounding the opening of A&F Hong Kong is paramount! In the history context, Abercrombie & Fitch will finally set foot in China (中国) 92 years after A&F itself historically introduced and popularized the game of Mahjong (麻將) in America. Ezra Fitch personally traveled to the once exotic land to supervise the acquisition of Mahjong sets and the English language translation of the game's Chinese instructions. Now, in the 21st century, Abercrombie & Fitch is moving towards setting firm foundations in China amid the continuous growth of the ever globally-influential Chinese market. Current head of A&F, Mike Jeffries, has called the upcoming Hong Kong location as highly meaningful in the market. Hong Kong itself is held with high esteem, in terms of the luxury retailing, in China; it commands a unique international flair, distinct from that of Shanghai (上海) and Beijing (北京), that is coupled with a higher degree of assured authenticity and quality within the minds of the Chinese. With multiple people in China employed to understand the market, the Company is fully devoted to the Hong Kong opening with determination to spread awareness of the Abercrombie & Fitch brand, within an aspirational light, across the Chinese market.

Work in the realization of this incredible milestone, in the history of Abercrombie & Fitch, is nearing completion – both in construction and in filling in modeling and management positions. Recruiters are out and about searching for and interviewing the best-looking, confident, and outgoing guys and girls of Hong Kong as everything continues to come together inside the iconic Pedder Building (畢打行) – 12 Pedder Street (畢打街), in Central (中環), on Hong Kong Island (香港島) – where the FIERCE party will begin blasting its all-American privileged cool!

The team behind A&F Hong Kong have an idea as to when the store will open in August – the 27th on a Monday, perhaps? – but there is no date officially set at all. Of course, The Sitch on Fitch will keep you in the know whenever a definite date is known...

THE OPENING IS SET FOR AUGUST 11! DOORS OPENING AT 11:00! Are you ready to be a part of history?! Read (here) for more opening details and to view the countdown clock!

A limited-edition of the A&F Quarterly will be exclusively available for a select few customers of A&F Hong Kong on opening day! Read more on that (here)!

A Weekend Visit to Bullring and the Shopping Centre's Hollister in Birmingham, England...

Add caption
Hey, how's it going?! Did you have a good weekend? :D

Our awesome London correspondent Chris Bailey had a good one himself! Great friends and good times came hand-in-hand with a weekend trip to Birmingham, England! FYI Birmingham is the second biggest city in the United Kingdom, after London, and, as Chris shares, has good nightlife, too! ;) While in Birmingham, one must check out the Bullring Shopping Centre, of course; and so Chris made sure to provide some nice shots to share with us all...

First up is a little piece of history! The St. Martin's Church stands between the Bullring Shopping Centre and the nearby markets. First built in the 14th century, it is Birmingham's original parish...

Found nearby is the awe-inspiring Selfridges department store at Bullring! If you did not know, this particular Selfridges received much attention, right after its opening in 2003, for its forward-minded exterior and interior design. (It has even been highlighted in architecture books). Every year since its opening, Retail Week has voted it as one of the 100 stores in the world to visit....

Moving along, check out the cool interior of Bullring...

And now what everyone most wants to see, the amazing Hollister store! Located on the recently new Main Street entrance to Bullring, and encased behind a glass frontage, the two story location commands a prominent spot in front of the iconic Bullring bull where visitors, some from other parts of the world, come to snap a photo. HCo Bullring's coming made news in August 2010 and the store was all open to the crowds by January 2011. Check out photos of the opening (here).

It's quite a unique store in the line-up of HCo shops worldwide. And as Chris pointed out, it is almost like a flagship store. ...Fitting, since it's there to serve SoCal fans in the United Kingdom's second largest urban area...

Taking cool by the horns, how awesome is that!!!

"Abercrombie" and "Hicks" in an Ad for Hotmail...

Our awesome reader Cameron J has pointed out something interesting in an ad for Microsoft Hotmail. The ad promotes the feature in which a Hotmail user can chat with a friend on Facebook. The two people used as examples? A Kim Abercrombie and a Cassie Hicks chatting up using the feature. Quite a coincidence, don't you think?!

Click on images to view larger!

Is it really just a coincidence? (Because that is one MAJOR coincidence, then)! Or a nod towards the hottest brands out there? Who knows? What are your thoughts?
