Smiles were anything but of short supply at GH's not-so-private shopping party! | (image source)
Check out the fantastic Gilly Hicks Girls Private Shopping Event-Chicago! video and Gilly Hicks Girl Private Shopping Event photos on Gilly Hicks' Facebook page!

We were all so distracted over the opening of Abercrombie & Fitch in Paris - the flagship is among the most amazing in the entire world! - that we completely overlooked the little party Gilly Hicks threw in honor of her gorgeous fans! Things got crazy fun in the Land of Down Undies on May 1st (between the hours of 6:30-8:30pm CST) as fanatics from all over came Chicago for the event: "We can from Iowa," confesses an enthusiatic gal surrounded by friends. Lined up and ready, these lovers-of-Gilly proceeded to storm the one-of-a-kind store in a passion of excitement as they looted the goodies within. Most notably, the fans got all worked up in a wave of intense sexy heat among the presence of the Gilly Guys. Seriously, the screams were amazing! The great Gilly Guys paraded about, shirtless and all-smiles, handing out high-fives and exclusive Gilly Hicks Girl tees. And even that was not enough: a photo with the guys was manditory to make the day even more memorable than it already was!

This was Gilly Hicks's first ever Private Shopping Event "for you & your mates," and it is completely awesome what Abercrombie & Fitch is willing to provide to its amazing fans. This promotional event is a wonderful tool to keep the enthusiam for Gilly Hicks pumping! Totally fun, the Company plans on keeping the party momentum going by hosting another event soon in your nearest GH store. Make sure to follow Gilly Hicks on Facebook to get notified directly from miss Down Undie herself...Spread the word to all your girls on what's all hot and cool about the Land of Down Undies, Gilly Hicks!!!

Abercrombie: A Religion?

The A&F flagship, a cathedral to FIERCE worship? A visitor descends from the grand staircase facing the iconic "pseudo-religious" A&F mural within | Screenshot from the A&F Copenhagen promotion film
On Monday, I came across an article by MSNBC titled Some Brains See Apple, Religion as Same. According to the article, neurologists have found that Apple fanaticism stimulates the brain in a similar way as does religion in devout people. This finding is a part of the Secrets of Superbrands documentary from BBC. Immensely immersive, the documentary goes on to call Apple stores cathedrals to the pseudo-religion that is Apple fanaticism. Noted is the seemingly "religious frenzy" that surrounds Apple Store openings and the awesome enthusiam of the staffers.

Well, this got me thinking about our fanaticism for Abercrombie & Fitch. Many people do not understand, and for most of us it is unexplainable. Why: because our intense fanaticism for A&F is seriously near-religious; it's on a whole other level that transcends explanation though mere words...just like Apple fans And A&F is one of those rare brands with an image that truly gives its fans a reason for their fanaticism, as is Apple; it is enveloped in detail and cool unparalleled in its respective industry; no other youth clothing company comes close it...

Stay FIERCE!

Please note: The following portion has been considered for deletion because it has been misleading. However, it has been kept and portioned off (since 29 October 2011) from the main post above. The following is complete satire and is not to be taken seriously...

If you are a true fan, walking into an Abercrombie & Fitch store gives you an uplifting and euphoric feeling - you feel as if you've entered a temple, per se; you feel the pulse of music in your heart; you inhale the FIERCE scent in the air. Instead of stained-glass windows, we have the photography of Bruce Weber as snapshots of Abercrombie heaven. In the United States, standard A&F stores are found in malls throughout the nation. These are our small temples, although I wouldn't call them humble: anything Abercrombie & Fitch is far from being humble - hot is the appropriate adjective. How about that: a hot temple of worship...

But for an elevated pseudo-religious experience, there is nothing like a visit to an A&F flagship - a cathedral to FIERCE. As of now, there are eight of these flagship/cathedrals worldwide. These grand structures are found within the world's greatest cities (and their shopping districts), boasting architectural integrety worthy of A&F. Within are awesome murals, like those of Michelangelo within the Sistine Chapel, depicting the romanticism of our creed. A stately statue of the ideal athletic male towers within like a commanding piece of religious sculpture by Bernini within St. Peter's Basilica. (Although the statue looks more like a piece by Rodin, more than anything.) Instead of burning insence and choirs, we have machine-sprayed FIERCE and bass-pumping electronic dance music throughout. The opening of every A&F flagship/cathedral draws in hundreds for the event and demands attention the world over. Granted, some Apple openings and product launches are much more closer a what could be called religious gatherings (specially in global cities), but, hell, we're not tech nerds. Millions of people the world over have made pilgrimages to these FIERCE holy sites...FIERCE, FIERCE is our holy water; spritzed upon everything and every one of us; providing to all a cleanse from the scent of plain and lame...

Pardon me for the idolization, but, yes, Abercrombie & Fitch is totally a religion to us - popularity, athleticism and attractiveness is a part of the doctrine (unwritten, yet prevalent throughout the material and soul). Those of us who fit within the doctrine feel at ease inside our temples, while those who don't feel uncomfortable - there's a reason lame people stear clear of A&F stores. A&F is a lifestyle brand, and you could very well say that the type of religion you follow is a lifestyle brand (Christianity, Hinduism, ect.) because it quite literally brands your lifestyle and sense of being as a person. Mike Jeffries (chairman & CEO, and the creator of A&F's modern image) himself resembles god: unseen, yet nevertheless omnipotent in the works of our universe. The Abercrombie moose is our religious symbol.

The history of the company itself has parallels with that of many religions. Established in 1892 by David Abercrombie, who was later joined by Ezra Fitch, Abercrombie & Fitch was then a minor pseudo-religion with a small following of devoted outdoors lovers. Time went on and milestones where passed as the number of followers increased (bringing with it, too, some very notable people, indeed - US presidents, Lindberg, Earhart...). After a decline in the 1970s and 1980s, the company/religion was re-envigorated with a revolutionary youthful image in the early 1990s by Mike. You could say that he was a god-send mortal who came gift the world with a new Abercrombie & Fitch - since, Mike has acheived apotheosis...he's a god, today. Four other minor denominations have since sprung from the fountain of our company/religion to accomodate other groups: abercrombie kids, Hollister Co, RUEHL No.925, and Gilly Hicks. While the temples to RUEHL have long since been closed, there still remain countless of faithful followers to the romanticism of RUEHL who continue to keep it alive within their yearning hearts praying for a resurrection.

It is because of our exclusively cultivated image that we, the followers, command respect under the Abercrombie moose - an ever powerful icon that lies, beautifully embroidered on our clothing, a top our hearts. Indeed, we are exclusive and our power is growing on a global scale...bringing FIERCE cool to the world (to others just as cool as we) is our mission!

UPDATE (17 August 2011): This association of Abercrombie & Fitch as a religion is mere comparisons...Yes, we call A&F a "religion," but in the same way a girl would call fashion a religion and Vogue the bible...all of this is just fanaticism at play. We don't seriously see A&F as a legit religion, people! We apologize for any misleading content in that respect.

The Long Walk Towards A&F Paris...Flip-Flops on Foot!

We have reached the end of a long journey where lies the gates to blissful FIERCE paradise... (image source)
Excited much!?! Mais, oui! The opening of A&F Paris has given us so much to talk and shout about - it's crazy! The recordbreaking 101 Promo Boys heated things up...and then came the opening doors to the magnificent flagship! The fact that it's Abercrombie & Fitch in Paris - the most beautiful and wonderful city in the whole wide world! - is enough to make even the most devoted A&F fan overwhelmed! Most of you are probably so overwhelmed that you haven't even given a thought as to how this all came to be... The history that surrounds A&F Paris - the steps that the Company took towards the realization of this dream are as significant as the abs on every one of those Promo Boys!...No other flagship has been surrounded by so much attention and detail as A&F Paris.

The successful opening of a flagship store, not only in Paris, but on the famed Champs-Élysées on top of that, is a mark of high respect to any brand in fashion retail...Abercrombie & Fitch is a brand that truly commands respect....Needless to say, May 19 is a landmark in the history of Abercrombie & Fitch...and the journey began four years ago...

Encouraged to pursue European expansion, on account of success of A&F London, the Company had Paris in sight as an absolute must for an A&F flagship. With no time to waste, it went in pursuit of the perfect spot. To Abercrombie & Fitch, acquiring locations that encompass architectural integrity is key to its expansion plans. Its top priority is to house its international stores within structures that boast world-renown addresses, commanding respect within their cultural spheres and also attention on an international scale. For the future flagship in Paris (a city jammed with more globally renown shopping streets than any other), only one fit the bill...

right corner. Image from Google Earth, copyrighted, and used here only for

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées: it is the king of streets; known to the French as La plus belle avenue du monde. So special is Champs-Élysées (incredibly steeped in history and culture) that the French government itself regulates what goes on it - protecting it from unworthy establishments is its primary goal (H&M was denied lease back in 2007). Abercrombie & Fitch was, thus, required by law to ask government permission for a lease. Taken into consideration was the near-luxury image, global brand recognition and momentum, and respect for design and integrity that Abercrombie & Fitch has cultivated over the years. To no surprise, in 2008, the Company was given the go-ahead to open shop!

The hottest brand on the planet opening one of its FIERCE shopping meccas in Paris - the capital of fashion, sex, and lights! Very exciting, but the Company actually didn't boast about it and remained rather quiet on the matter. Word got out nevertheless and spread far and wide; the anticipation began steaming up for sure by 2009. OhLaLa was among the first to post about it in April 2008 and included financial figures: €2.2 million as down payment with a €3.3 million ($4.5 million USD) monthly lease. Champs-Élysées has the highest rates in real estate, so this is of no surprise. What is more notable: A&F will pay three times more than the previous tenant of no.23, Thai Airways.

Hôtel de la Païva seen on the right (or adjacent left) of A&F Paris.
No. 23 on Champs-Élysées offers the perfect location: It's around the corner from the Avenue Montaigne (where people from around the world come to shop; lined with the houses of Dior, Prada, Chanel and the like), and is a fair walk away from the beautiful Grand Palais (a historical and architecturally revered structure that today showcases high-art exhibition and the extravagant Chanel fashion shows of Karl Lagerfeld). See the Google Map above. Funny enough (considering the previous facts), one reporter mentioned that no.23 was "on the lower end of the avenue, which is traditionally not the fanciest part of the Champs-Élysées." Anyway, this reporter continued by sharing that the building to the adjacent left (no.25 Champs-Élysées) is none other than the gorgeous Hôtel de La Païva. (hôtel, or more formally hôtel particulier by the way, means "grand private house" in French and not "hotel" as in the English sense). Built within 1856 and 1865, it was the manor of the notable and luxuriously-ostentatious Polish-Jewish French courtesan, La Païva. The structure cost around 10 million in gold, and even the gifted Auguste Rodin worked on the facade - today, it is houses the Louis 25 restaurant.

Structural renovations on no.23 began in summer 2008 with Selldorf Architects (exclusive designer of every A&F flagship for over half-a-decade), and the renovations were even called "drastic ones!" A massive construction wall covered the entire facade from public view. The only thing that was obviously known, as with other historic buildings housing its flagships, is that A&F would be preserving the quality and significant architectural aspects (that which gives character and meaning to the structure inside and out) while implementing Abercrombie iconography. Still, there was no telling when the flagship would actually open. Naturally, the anticipation (l'impatience!) escaladed even more with the mystery of the date, and it remained in the minds of all the excited French fans!

The hot banner announcing the opening date.
Finally, in February 2011, the Company announced the opening date, May 19. Why in May? After all, isn't Christmas the most wonderful (and profitable time of the year) - the time when every flagship since 2009 has opened doors?  I'm no tourist specialist, but from everything that I've read on the City of Lights (which is quite a mountain), tourism gets its heaviest during the summer season (starting around May). And Champs-Élysées becomes absolutely  jammed with tourists from around the world. So you can bet that a lot of that traffic is going to be aware of the A&F flagship. This is the other reason for opening on Champs-Élysées (apart from the reverence of the location): it will bring in a mass of shoppers from not only in France, but from the world over as well.

When the day came ever nearer, spokesman Eric Cerny, told the Columbus Business First, "Our flagships are a very elevated shopping experience." And indeed, the Company took many, many measures to assure the opening of a flagship worthy of Abercrombie & Fitch and Paris - to live up to that expectation. Promotional day for the opening finally arrived on May 12 as 101 of the hottest A&F male models (flown in from A&F's flagship locations around the world) lined the front of the flagship, making everyone's day even hotter than it already was. If the flagship was not on everyone's minds before, it most definitely was now!

On May 19, the journey came to a magnificent end as the grand gates (guarded by gorgeous models) swung open to Abercrombie & Fitch in Paris. Everything (the costs, wait, anticipation - everything!) was completely worth it. At the end of that long path now awaits one of the most exciting A&F locations on the entire planet...Your beautiful A&F flip-flops must be worn out by now after the long walk, but you made it...enter FIERCE paradise, where chiseled angels await you with open arms...new flip-flops and much more await...

Paris is Sexier than EVER! A&F Paris Now Open!

Picture perfect at the entrance of A&F Paris | Screenshot from A&F Paris Opening Day (image source)
Ladies and Gentlemen, Abercrombie & Fitch has opened doors to A&F Paris! Rejoice in the fact its elegant elegant doors now lay open to what awaits for you within...paradise à la FIERCE! All of the anticipation that had been building up until this day has reached a conclusion that rivals - arguably - any other flagship opening in the history of A&F. If you were present in Paris for the opening, than consider yourself among the exclusive few in the entire world...if you were not, than thats just really sad...A&F Paris is a dream.

People flocked all over France, Europe...hell, the entire world, to the grand gates of 23 Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The crowd, as in every opening of an internation Abercrombie & Fitch flagship, was huge and the multitude of people spread all up and down the famed Avenue on either side of the flagship. From the balconies up high came down the salutes from countless models. Many of these them came out (in jeans, sky-blue checkered shirts or in only navy hoodies) to finally get the hundreds of Abercrombie-crazed fans into a winding, thick line. (A&F Ginza reportedly boasted a recordbreaking 1,500 people in line, so we'll see soon how many showed up for A&F Paris - apparently more!) As the gates were opened, everyone proceeded up a wide driveway to the front doors of the amazing white stucco structure that houses said paradise. Those doors, towering and stately with an astonishing elegance, must have been created as so for the purpose of guarding FIERCE heaven....The gates of FIERCE heaven, indeed! And so it was these doors that swung open at 10:00am (CET)...

Our favorite boy-toy Chris in the entrance hall. (image source)
Within awaits the most beautiful Abercrombie & Fitch flagship in the world...honestly, the most beautiful. It has an elegance that out does even the grandeur of A&F at 7 Burlington Gardens at Savile Row in London. Facing the entrance is tall mural of three poised nude males (their muscled backs and well-formed butts on full display). Here, in the entrance hall, stood Christ as the store greeter - the model you take your pictures with for the wonderful memory - as he did back when A&F Milan opened in October 2009. The smell of FIERCE can be described as utterly entoxicating; the atmosphere pulsing to the rhythym of ultra-cool as the A&F Playlists blasts throughout!

Looking around, utter elegance worthy of Abercrombie & Fitch's home in Paris, the city of haute-style. There is a central aspect to the decor; gold detailing. It graces the front gates, the doors, and is dotted as opulent metalwork in order and class throughout the interior design. The Company spent a reported figure of  4,9 million (a little over $7 million USD) in the renovations...and it looks it! Four floors measuring at 31,000 square feet hold the weight of the best that A&F has to offer up to the world, here in Paris, served on a golden platter. The signature staircase that commands attention - and why wouldn't it, you have to walk up and down on it - so tiring! - and accends around the romantic and powerful bronze statue of a chiseled athletic male (another signature piece found in all A&F flagships)...

On its official Facebook page Abercrombie & Fitch posted, "Today is the day!...The A&F Paris Flagship is officially open!" at 11:00am (EST). That's all! You could be upset about how it has no absolute coverage for its fans the world over. Honestly, though, it adds even more of an air of exclusivity to the whole affair. The opening of A&F Paris is a treat for those fans residing in Paris...and only for them; like an exclusive party going down in the City of Lights, invitation only - that being the luck of actually being able to travel to Paris for the special day...your jealousy must be FIERCE!

Abercrombie & Fitch in Paris...blows our breaths away...heavenly FIERCE!

(Soem are actually repeats from Soliatelite, but who cares, right!?!). Sortiraparis has a few pictures of interest if you care a look (although, not as high in quality as from other sources). The Queeze gives us this photo here. Ohlala magazine also has these on its OMD! Abercrombie & Fitch Paris Is "Almost - Presque" Open article. By the way, the OMD in the title stands for Oh Mon Dieu as in Oh My God!!!

Still photos are surely nice, but who's up for some movement! Stylerumor has a clip that captures every flex of muscle and smile under the radiant Parisian sunshine. This following is seriously the mots popular video of the promotional event, with multiple sources (FashionEct, Towleroad, LavishTMA, and even the Huffington Post!) including it in their articles covering the event; even the MyDailyUK, with its appropriately titled article, VIDEO: 101 shirtless male models courtesy of Abercrombie! It comes our way by United States of Paris, a little French blog - really, that is an understatement - that felt it needed to head on down to 23 Avenue des Champs-Élysées to see what the fuss was all about. Really, the blog set out to ask questions - From where are they from? How did they came to model for A&F? What do they do otherwise? - that's on everyone's minds! The result is the fantastic video below which United States of Paris posted on its blog as Abercrombie boys in Paris – La vidéo. It has also posted it on its Youtube channel. The video is an amazing 6 minutes long spectacle of beefcake à la Abercrombie! There's definitely more talking with the fellas; two in particular (Alex and Samio) from A&F London and another one from A&F Milan (his name's Wesley) whose accent is to die for!!! If you feel like shouting out, "Hot damn!" anytime during the playing of this clip, feel free to...yell it out to the heavens if you must...

I hope that you've been satified...at least for now...and if you love The Sitch on Fitch soooo much, than tell all of your friends about us and like us on Facebook!!! Keep it FIERCE (and that includes wiping that drool off your face)!

Enticipating A&F Paris, the World Goes Crazy!!!

The hottest A&F models from around the world are lined up outside the Paris flagship as people crowd for a better view! (image source)
OH MON DIEU!!! Abercrombie & Fitch fans the world over are going crazy with anticipation over the opening what is expected to become the hottest shop in the fashion capital of the world! Yes, everyone, A&F Paris is opening doors on 19 May - as if you needed telling - and it is gearing up to join A&F Ginza as one of the greatest openings in the history of Abercrombie & Fitch; indeed, in the entire history of retail! Personaly - me, your blogger - I have been following the development of A&F Paris since 2008. With that being said, I am very, very, very excited to see Abercrombie & Fitch finally open doors tomorrow!

The A&F Facebook page has been keeping every one of its fans up to date on what has been going on over in Paris. A&F Paris - it is what is on the minds of everyone in the city of lights and the world. I do not believe any opening has been as great with anticipation as was the opening of A&F Ginza in Tokyo back in 2009. Truth be told, the anticipation for A&F Paris is so tremoulous, suffice it to say that A&F Ginza (even with its eleven stories of FIERCE shopping) has most definitely been topped off in cool!!!

The Company has completely out done itself in making sure that this opening goes down FIERCE in history! Reportedly, it spent more that $7 million USD in renovations of the building at 23 Avenue des Champs-Élysées. (May I remind everyone that this is one of the most renown streets in the entire world!!) The rent alone for the location, showcasing the A&F image on a luxury standpoint, is a wopping €3.3 million ($4.5 million USD)!!! For the opening day, Abercrombie & Fitch has flown in 101 of its hottest models from around the world to be present at the event. That is huge!

I am most definitely greatful to French blogger Marieluvpink for her cover of A&F Paris! She has recently posted on the promotional event that A&F held for the flagship a week ago. Her Abercrombie Paris : J-1 Semaine !!!... post pretty much sums up in a few words (and loads of pics) what keeps us craving for more and more from Fitch. To be honest, I do not even know her personally, but with cute photos of her with the A&F Guys, I am completely enthralled!

Sadly, I myself will not be able to attend because I'll be stuck in the States! Yeah, so I will be here at home. Tomorrow morning, I will put on my "flagship store look" (plaid shirt, slim straight jeans, and flip-flops), and I will spray myself from head-to-toe with FIERCE. The next best thing? Sharing the excitement with my friends of course and blogging all away!

Abercrombie & Fitch opens in its opulent Paris flagship store tomorrow at 10:00am (CET) - stay tuned for more coverage!!!

Abercrombie Boy-Toy Gets Named!

Our FAVORITE A&F model looking beautiful while promoting A&F Paris. (image source)
Back in December 2010, The Sitch on Fitch highlighted one particular model that stood out among the rest. The post was titled Abercrombie's Favorite Boy-Toy. Why? Well, the hottie was spotted at the opening of A&F Milan, Tokyo, Copenhagen, and Gilly Hicks London...attending almost every A&F opening all around the world...and we did not have a name! All we had was that killer face of his that has been gaining fans worldwide with his wonderful work at Abercrombie & Fitch. Hey, showing off your crowd-stopping, well formed body must be a lot of hard work, people!

Back in the December post, the Sitch on Fitch had a feeling that this guy would make another appearace...at A&F Paris ofcourse. The opening of Abercrombie & Fitch in the City of Lights is prepping up to become among one of the most memorable in the history of the Company - and in all of retail, too! Um, duh Mr. Mysterious was not to be missing in the front line of A&F warrior models, poised, abs and all, to promote the event...

Well, my FIERCE fans...I have finally got his name for you!!! [GASP] The French media source Le Figaro was interviewing models outside no.23 Avenue des Champs-Élysées (address to A&F Paris, take note!) during a very sunny and hot promotional day indeed! And among those models was our very own Mr. Mysterious. [GASP] His name...Chris! [GASP] Pronounce it slowly, sensually...Chris... It would make a sexy-as-hell name for new Abercrombie & Fitch cologne...the scent...A heart-accelerating, arousing, and attention getting smell to rival even FIERCE!? Perphaps not, but he sure does rival every other A&F boy in his beautiful presence... Oh, and he is 23 years old and is based at A&F London...mmm...

And our man was very, very, well accompanied on that very fine promotional day in Paris by a couple of other fine, fine gentlemen...check them out at our The Promo Boys of A&F Paris post (video included!!!).

UPDATE / Name correction: When this post was originally made, the error was made that the model's name was Stresson. The model actually says his name as Chris, but the French media source, Le Figaro, actually made the error of subtitling this words as Stresson in the video. This error has been corrected since 23 May, and we apologize for the confusion...We love you, Chris!!! Stay FIERCE!

The Promo Boys of A&F Paris

If the anticipation for A&F Paris (opening doors on 19 May) hasn't got you hot, hot, hot!...then this surely will... On May 12, our favorite brand brought out 101 of its sexiest models from around the world to promote what is to become one of the biggest openings in the history of Abercrombie & Fitch! The A&F Guys stood lined up and ready, armed with killer looks, to boot! Abs à la perfection were on full display on a bright, sunny, and hot-as-hell (pardon the crudeness, but the adjective was most definitely needed) day all down the facade of A&F Paris. The location? The iconic and totally world-class amazing Avenue des Champs-Élysées. A&F sure did attract a lot of attention, and not just on Champs-Élysées, but all across Paris as well!

Check out the video above from Le Figaro to listen to what these guys have to say about working for the hottest company in the world! (The word hot can not be used enough!) Some of these messieurs have been working for the company for years, and they have also been in attendance at other openings for the Company. One, of them, Chris  - FINALLY, we have his name!!! - has been at mostly every A&F flagship opening since 2009. Check out our December 2010 Abercrombie's Favorite Boy-Toy post on Chris and also our latest post on him, Abercrombie Boy-Toy Gets Named. Moving on - yes, we must move on from Chris to the other models...It is only fair! - not only do the models share on their reason for loving A&F premium jeans - the denim amazingly hugs their perfectly-shaped, athletic "bums"! - but they also treat us on to one or two words of their imperfect, yet cute, French. Ooh, la, la...!

Ladies (and gentlemen, too) need there be another excuse to head on over to Paris right now!!! Hurry, hurry, mes cheries, A&F Paris waits with open, well-muscled, FIERCE-scented arms!!!
