Under Construction! | Abercrombie & Fitch in Dublin on College Green...

It's totally official! Construction's begun! After months of waiting, Ireland will soon be getting its very own Abercrombie & Fitch! The Irish fans are really, really excited for this upcoming location which is most likely opening during the Christmas 2012 fashion season...

As a closer step into the realization of this highly anticipated flagship, the construction hoarding has gone up! Our contributor Patrick Mooney has been kind enough to share exclusively with us his pictures – straight out of Dublin! – of the recent development. There is no marketing plastered on the hoarding yet, but this is exciting anyway...

The planning permission for the location.

Across the street, this historic structure, as Patrick tells us,
used to be the seat of the Irish parliament and House of Lords
when the UK ruled Ireland but is today a bank.

Addressed at 34/35 College Green, Abercrombie & Fitch in Dublin will make for another amazing piece in the line-up of A&F flagships worldwide! Construction began on March 27 and is expected to last for 24 weeks – that places the completion of the construction by early-September 2012. Furthermore, an approximate 120 people will be "on site at any one time," with about 15 contractors, throughout the duration of the construction phase...

Representing about 2,000 businesses in the Dublin City Center, the Dublin City Business Improvement District (BID) group released the following statement on March 30:

"The news that Abercrombie & Fitch is set to take over the former Habitat building on College Green is a huge vote of confidence for Dublin City Centre. Abercrombie & Fitch is one of the most prestigious and successful retailers in the world and its presence will be a real addition to the excellent range of retail options in the City Centre. Coming on the back of the first growth in footfall figures for the City Centre in six years, this is another early indication that we are reaching an important positive tipping point in business and consumer sentiment. It has been shown in examples from around the world, from London to New York to Philadelphia, that City Centre areas which manage themselves collaboratively and proactively through a BID type organisation help establish an environment in which investments like this are more likely to take place. We are confident that this will be the first of many similar type investments in Dublin City Centre. We look forward to working with Abercrombie & Fitch to help them settle into their new home on College Green!" – Dublin City BID (source)

Once again, this is completely exciting stuff!

Stay FIERCE!
