Comin' Up! Hollister in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia...

There has been talk at Abercrombie & Fitch Co, for the past couple of months, about the entrance of the Company into markets in the Southern Hemisphere. Apart from being an exciting new endeavor in the international expansion of the Company, entrance into the southern half of the world brings the all-new challenge of operating as a fashion retailer in differing seasonal climates (as the Company has as of now been exclusively present in the Northern Hemisphere). As recently as the Q2 Fiscal 2012 earnings disclosure, Janathan E. Ramsden (CFO, Principle Accounting Officer, and Executive VP) shared specifically that store openings for 2013 will be including the Company's first venture into Australia with the Hollister brand. And now, as of 4 September 2012, the Company has succeed in securing retail real estate agreements to bring the fantasy of Southern California to the two great Australian cities of Sydney and Melbourne!

If you did not know, Sydney and Melbourne have been fellow rivals for a long, long time; but fortunately for all, Hollister is surfing in to party with them both! We all know, of course, of the cool of Sydney and the fantastic cultural nods to its appeal – Finding Nemo and Gilly Hicks, anyone? – that are famous for their vibrancy and fun. And with its population of 4.6 million Sydneysiders, it's the most populous of Australia's cities. Nevertheless, Melbourne has its own special crew of 4.1 million good folks driving in full gear what is often said to be the cultural capital of Down Under! Which ever your favorite, both cities are world class and made the top 10 list of The Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Livability Report. Abercrombie & Fitch Co has been working with the Westfield Group – the Australia-based, international shopping center group – for years in acquiring notable retail spots in the United States and in the United Kingdom. Now that Company is spreading its footprint into Australia, plans for the first Hollister shops in the nation have been naturally set through agreements with the Westfield Group. Hollister's shop in Sydney will be opening inside the six-level complex Westfield Bondi Junction; the Melbourne store will be located in Westfield Doncaster.

The Company is very confident in its new venture, and why wouldn't it? The Hollister brand has been an overwhelming runaway success in its international activities. "WE LOVE HOLLISTER!" rings true and clear from the passion of stoked fans across Europe, Hong Kong, and even in China! It's all the power of an iconic concept at work. And in regards to operating on new territory in the Southern Hemisphere, Mike Jeffries (Chairman & CEO) is confident that A&F Singapore has proven that the Company can manage different climate zones across its board of shops across the world.

A more specific opening time frame is not yet known. But 2013 will be the year...
