Abercrombie & Fitch at 34 College Green... |
First off, the pop-up music store – the one adjacent to the left of Abercrombie & Fitch – is going to be closing business soon, packing up, and leaving. As Patrick informs, the new tenants being sought out for the soon-to-be vacant property are of the more prestigious order. This is considering that the area is being pushed to a more reputable level of retail to bump up its appeal. The opening of Abercrombie & Fitch at 34 College Green is, you could say, the "jewel" of this endeavor, and business in the immediate area will benefit from the attraction of consumers by the A&F Flagship.
Secondly, there is this notice for the retention of "[the Company's] graphic printed onto the building hoarding" for a time of six months...really just buying more time to keep the advertising up while it continues its construction and "cleaning" process. The poster with the iconic Abercrombie & Fitch shot by Bruce Weber has been up since late-April, but this notice just went up on July 31. Patrick brought up the good question that maybe there may have been complaints? Who knows. And Patrick also pointed out interestingly enough that the Company is active in Ireland under "Abercrombie & Fitch Hollister Ireland, Ltd." Check out the notice for yourself...
Thirdly...well...please refrain from gasping toooo loudly: Abercrombie & Fitch in Dublin will no longer be a flagship store. It was a big shocker during the recent Q2 Fiscal 2012 earnings disclosure. A&F Dublin has been scaled down from flagship store status to a now smaller Tier 1 format due to a "meaningful" reduction in capital expenditures for the planned store. This will make A&F Dublin the first international A&F opening not to be a flagship store. Reasons why? Not clear apart from the given decision to cut back on expenditures and also a more cautious approach to European expansion of the A&F brand. (Earlier in 2012, the Company decided not to sign a contract for its then-planned Barcelona flagship, and plans for a Frankfurt flagship also did not pull through). But take note that A&F Dublin is not the only project to have undergone this scale-back: A&F Seoul, opening in 2013, has also been taken from flagship to Tier 1 store. Tier 1 is the top category in the A&F hierarchy of stores, but A&F Dublin will just not be a "flagship".
Nevertheless, don't let THAT hamper down any feelings of excitement! The FIERCE party is still gonna happen! Abercrombie & Fitch is arriving in Ireland and with its piece of A&F Experience with it...
Stay FIERCE!
